Sunday night saw the best of British Surfing congregate for the annual UK Surf Awards at the Carnmarth Hotel in Newquay, and The Surfing Sumo were there once again to announce the winner of the Best Surf School 2017 award.
After another massive response to our online vote, we had yet another close run race between the top 3. Again this year it came down to the wire with the surf schools rallying their social media followers for support.
Congratulations go to Tynemouth Surf Co for clinching the top spot and the much coveted Best Surf School 2017 Award. As one of the longest running surf schools in the UK, they are well deserving winners. And it turned out to be an extra special night for the guys from Tynemouth as they also picked up the award for ‘Service to the sport’ on behalf of Tynemouth Surf Co founder Stephen Hudson who sadly passed away earlier this year.
Second and third places went to an all Sennen derby with Smart Surf School taking second place by just a couple of votes over Sennen Surfing Centre. Well done guys!.
Honorable mentions go out to last years winners Porthcawl Surf School and runners up St Ives Surf School who narrowly missed on the top 3 by just a few votes.
Once again, a huge thank you to the UK Pro Surf Association for hosting another great night. It’s been a fantastic year for UK Surfing and the UK Pro Surf Tour and we’re proud to support the UKPSA.
