Well, although stand up paddleboarding (SUP) is pretty new in the UK, it has a long and fascinating history. The sport has origins in Africa and in Polynesia where it was adopted by surf school instructors in Hawaii as it allowed them to keep an eye on surfers from a stable vantage point. Stand up paddleboarding involves standing on a super wide, long board and propelling yourself through the water using a long paddle. This great new activity is healthy, invigorating and promotes balance, strength and general fitness when performed correctly. SUP can be low impact and is attainable for everyone, suitable for individuals, couples and families.
