Ask any kid who’s been on holiday in Newquay what their best day was, and more than likely they’ll say the day they went surfing! It’s a great way to keep the kids active (and away from those pesky handheld devises). So we decided to head down to Watergate Bay and check out the awesome lessons that Westcountry Surf School are doing down there.
The sun was shining and there was a nice small wave breaking, perfect for learning to surf. Watergate Bay is a great spot to learn to surf. With 1km of golden sand there’s plenty of room for everyone, and with the lifeguard service running May to October, you can rest assured it’s nice and safe for the kids. Of course, we would always recommend you put your kids into a surf lesson rather than just hiring equipment and having a go. They will learn so much more about beach safety and the correct way to enter the sea from expert instructors like Joel from Westcountry Surf School.
You can see from the video just how much the kids love it, and chances are they’ll be so tired by the end of the day they’ll go to bed with no arguments!
